Regular Courses and Activities
LuJong: Indo-Tibetan Yoga and Meditation Courses
LuJong is the Tibetan Buddhist term for physical training. These unique courses combine traditional Hatha Yoga Asana (physical postures) and Pranayama (breathing exercises) with Kum Nye (Tibetan Yoga and Relaxation techniques). Traditional Kum Nye practices including self massage, physical and breathing exercises, visualisation techniques and meditations. Aspects of Kum Nye particularly the visualisation techniques are incorporated into each session. The course is designed specifically to assist in the development of meditative concentration. These practices are also designed to energise the body and relax the mind. The yoga exercises are quite gentle. The course is suitable for new and experienced yoga students and mediators alike.

In our programs we present a range of courses including: visiting teachers from different Buddhist and other traditions; Under 35’s courses for young people; our academic series to provide a thorough explanation on aspects of Buddhist philosophy and related disciplines; regular Yoga and Pranayama courses from the Indian and Tibetan traditions.

A member of the Yeshe Nyima community will lead guided Tranquility Meditation sessions.
Classes are free and all welcome.

Time: 3-4.30 pm
Puja is religious chanting, prays are chanted from traditional texts from the Kagyu and Ningma schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Puja attendance is free and all welcome.

The classes are suitable for beginners and more experienced students in both Yoga and meditation. The classes are gentle. Please bring a mat if possible and lunch to share.

About the teacher:
Traleg Khandro (Felicity Lodro) is Director of Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche’s Centre’s in Sydney, and New York. She has been a student of Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche’s for around 30 years and has done a number of long meditational retreats during that time. Khandro received her Yoga qualifications from the International Yoga Teachers Association training in both Iyengar and Desikachar styles. Under Rinpoche’s guidance Khandro has also received training in LuJong (Tibetan physical training) and combining these practices with Hatha Yoga. She conducts LuJong classes in both Australia and America. Her LuJong classes provide a unique combination of Tibetan and Indian Yoga, meditation and relaxation techniques. Khandro has a Degree in Psychology.

Creating a sense of unity by working with the body, breath and mind. These unique classes combine hatha yoga and breathing techniques with aspects of Tibetan yoga to help relax and stabilize the mind. Wear comfortable loose clothing and bring yoga mat if possible.

The Five Element Form – One Day Course

The 5 Elements Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Akasha provide strength, movement, creativity, energy and connection. Neelam will share in greater depth, the ancient yogic practice of the 5 Element Form - which is designed to build greater strength and flexibility, increase energy levels and empower us. This unique workshop will incorporate the physical practice and art exercises - no prior yoga or art experience is necessary.
Wear comfortable loose clothing and bring a yoga mat if possible, also pen and paper if you wish to take notes. Art material provided.

Neelam Gopalani brings her passion, positive energy and depth of experience to her teaching. She has studied Yoga in India, Thailand and Australia, and has taught people from all walks of life from children to business people. She also has a background in communications and facilitation in the corporate world. "I"m really excited and honoured to share these special practice with you. It's so different to other styles I've learnt over the years.” The 5 Element Form has been taught to Neelam by her main teacher who spent many years training in traditional practises of Yoga in India.

One Day Course: Exploring Tranquility Meditation

Tranquility meditation is seen as an important tool for stabilising the mind. Using traditional techniques Norbert will explore and explain how we can manage our minds through relaxation and focus.

About the teacher:
Norbert Bohler has been a practising Buddhist for many years and recently completed a traditional three year retreat in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. In this course Norbert will be taking an in depth look into working with the mind in Tranquility meditation (Shamatha Meditation).

Course: Feminine Wisdom on the Spiritual Path

Course description
Wangdrak Rinpoche is the Abbot of Gebchak Gonpa in Tibet and is committed to the spiritual and material welfare of some nearly four hundred nuns. He is renowned throughout Tibet for their devotion and profound practices. Rinpoche lives in Nangchen in Tibet and takes time each year from his responsibilities to teach overseas. This is his second visit to Australia.
Rinpoche has studied extensively in the Nyingma, Sakya and Kagyu traditions of Tibetan Buddhism and received his Khenpo degree at Dzongsar College in Derge. He completed his three-year retreat at Trachok Gon, and his teachers include Adeu Rinpoche, Jigme Phuntsok, Jamgon Kongtrul and Tsoknyi Rinpoche. |

Essential Zen
A Weekend Course with Zen Master Ekai Korematsu Osho

Master Ekai Korematsu Osho will give an in depth presentation of traditional aspects of Zen, its theory and practise. The teachings of Zen are designed to lead the mind to seek and find reality in every moment through contemplation, koan and meditation.
Ekai Korematsu Osho is Abbot of Jikishoan Zen Buddhist Community in Melbourne and the main Teacher of Jikishoan’s Zen Training and Integrated Buddhist Studies Program. . He is a transmitted teacher in the lineage of Soto Zen tradition receiving his transmission from Daigen Ikko Narasaki in 1986 in Japan. Osho has taught meditation in Japan, India and the USA for 30 years. Since 1997 he has been a faculty member of Antioch University, USA, for Education Abroad Buddhist Studies Program,
Osho also gives regular Teachings at E-vam Institute in Melbourne.

Weekend - Tibetan Esoteric Yoga “Lu Jong” with Pema Dorji Rinpoche

In this profound and practical weekend course, Rinpoche will teach Lu Jong and give yoga instructions. Lu Jong is the term used for Tibetan Buddhist physical practices designed to help bring physical balance and wellness, and expand the mind to connect with our inner wisdom and true nature.
Lama Pema Dorji Rinpoche is a Yogi of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism and was born into a renowned family of Tibetan Yogis. He was a student of some of the great masters including H.H Dudjom Rinpoche, H.H Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Chatral Rinpoche, Chagdud Rinpoche, and Trinley Norbu Rinpoche. He is considered a master of Lu Jong ( LuJong are the physical yogic practices in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition). In 1993 Rinpoche began teaching in the West, first in USA, and many other countries after that. This will be Rinpoche’s third visit to Australia. This is a rare and fortunate opportunity to receive teachings and Yoga instructions from such a world renowned master.

6 Day Live in Retreat
Dates: August 13-20
The Retreat will be located at a picturesque country retreat property near Bundanoon, in the Southern Highlands. Rinpoche will train participants in LuJong, meditation and ceremonial chanting. Booking is essential and full retreat attendance is required. An information sheet about the retreat is available upon request. This is a rare opportunity to receive detailed and indepth instruction from a traditional Nyima Yogi master. Physical practices are quite gentle and participants can practice the Yoga’s to a level that is physically safe for their individual requirements.

Spiritual Director of Yeshe Nyima: Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche

The late Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche IX was born in Eastern Tibet and enthroned as the Supreme Abbot of Thrangu Monastery by His Holiness 16th Gyalwa Karmapa. He has undergone rigorous scholastic and meditative training under various Tibetan Kagyü and Nyingma masters in India and came to Australia in 1980. Rinpoche is the spiritual director of E-Vam Institute in Melbourne; Maitrepa Centre in Healesville, Victoria; Yeshe Nyima: Indo-Tibetan Yoga and Meditation Centre in Sydney, Australia; E-Vam Institute, New York in USA; Nyima Tashi in Auckland, New Zealand; and other affiliated centres. Rinpoche has become well known for his erudition, fluency in English and background in western psychology, comparative religion and philosophy. He inaugurated the annual Buddhist Summer School, now in its 28th year, and the bi-annual Buddhism and Psychotherapy Conferences, which have been hosted for more than a decade. He is the author of a number of books including The Essence of Buddhism now in its third printing.
